Wireless thermometers are great. To monitor outside temperature, just place the transmitter outside and watch readings on the receiver inside. While that's the typical use case, they can also be used to monitor the temperature inside a refrigerator. Without opening the door! For RV use that's particularly appealing.
I've been using this AcuRite model to monitor my Scamp fridge for years. The receiver works best inside the camper. It can also work from my truck cab to monitor the fridge while traveling. But performance is spotty. It does help if both units are vertical. E$pecially when the tran$mitter batterie$ are fre$h. Clearly, room for improvement. Then I recently found this model which boasted stronger signal and range. Like 50 yards!
It makes sense to me that the transmitter is a bigger package with larger batteries (AA not AAA). How's it working? So far, so good. I just hated to discard the old one. So I gave it a new home in Loretta's motorhome. The only problem was that it looked a little worse for wear. So I split the case and rattle canned it oil rubbed bronze to match her decor.
I liked the dark look so much better that I started hating the white one I just bought. I didn't mind its gray back side. So I rattle canned just its face plate.
